Every year for the past 4 years that I’ve been in Vegas (in March on a Thurs to Sunday) most TV’s in all the sports books I’ve been in are usually on NBA or College Basketball. Rich’s editorial is right in the sense that the NHL just doesn’t appear to be on the radar in Las Vegas. The NHL, if it is even on, is relegated to the same screens as Greyhound Racing. And I am pretty sure you are more likely to see Santa’s Little Helper on a TV in Vegas than you are Sidney Crosby.

I would argue that hockey isn’t even one of the big 4 sports in the U.S. More likely, there is only a big 3, and the 4th biggest is Nascar in the South, and the NHL in the North. Now where’s my Confederate flag?

Good editorial. As such, it brings to mind questions:

1) Do you recall any specific opinion pieces by anyone who carries any weight (Scotty Bowman/Jean Beliveau types) who is a proponent of the NHL in Vegas? I can’t — it’s just one of these ever-present rumours. Like Mat Sundin is…

2)As the Books don’t pay much attention did you get any unreal betting opportunities like the ones ABC touts?

3)What about a second team in Montreal?
