What team beat writers are saying this afternoon:

  • Craig Rivet was back on the ice for the Sabres today but appears to still be about a week away from returning to the line-up. The Sabres won’t rush their captain back.
  • Things aren’t looking very rosie in Columbus, as Aaron Portzline describes the growing apathy towards the Blue Jackets.  Insightful.
  • Sergei Zubov won’t return to the Stars on Saturday because that will be the last day he has to be on IR.  As the article says, Zubov may not have been ready anyways.
  • Shawn Matthias has been called up by the Panthers and will make his season debut tonight.  May be time to give the talented youngster some time with the big club.
  • The Capitals are hoping Tom Poti (groin) can return by the weekendPoti will help the Capitals move the puck out of their own zone a lot more efficiently.

Great line from the Colombus Article: “Millionaires don’t like losing millions, just as hundredaires — like most of us — don’t like losing hundreds.”
