NHL Morning Papers (Monday Edition)

Here are the morning papers for Monday the 15th of September:

• There was a lot of energy at the Avalanche’s first day of rookie camp on Monday, writes Mike Chambers of the Denver Post.  Avalanche prospect Kelsey Tessier really looks up to his coach and former Avs idol Patrick Roy.
• Joanne Ireland of the Edmonton Journal has an interesting article about Charlie Huddy’s son Ryan and his addition to the Oilers organization.
• John Shipley of the St. Paul Pioneer Press wonders whether the Wild will sign Marian Gaborik or trade the soon-to-be free agent.
• Craig Hartsburg feels like he was named head coach of the Senators “about two years ago,” so with camp so close, he is ready to get going.  The Senators sure cannot complain about the play of their prospects over their first two games of rookie camp, writes Bruce Garrioch.
• Cliff Fletcher is not worried about the scores of the games at rookie camp as much as he is concerned with the play of each individual player, writes Steve Buffery.  The Leafs were happy with the improved play of Luke Schenn in the team’s second rookie camp game.  Meantime, Leafs prospect Darryl Boyce is just happy he made it through his first shift of rookie camp without getting injured like he did last year in his Leafs debut.
• Before heaping too much praise on the organization’s top prospects, Canucks coach Alain Vigneault wants to see his top prospects play in person, explains Elliot Pap of the Vancouver Sun.
• Steve Conroy of the Boston Herald has six important questions for Bruins fans.
• The Hurricanes were out on Sunday supporting a good cause.
• The Blue Jackets lost to the Stars in the teams’ prospects tournament on Sunday.
• Stars prospect James Neal has a far better understanding of what to expect from prospects camp this year as opposed to last season.
• The Wings have a lot more goaltending depth in their system than they used to, writes Dave Dye.
• Scottie Upshall is playing lots of poker, but don’t worry, it is for charity, writes Frank Seravalli.
• While the Lightning have Mike Smith and Olaf Kolzig between the pipes, youngster Karri Ramo will get a shot to win the outright starting job at training camp, explains Damian Cristodero.  Meanwhile, Martin St. Louis has nothing against the old Lightning regime, but he is looking forward to a new era of Lightning hockey.
• Ben Lovejoy knows he probably won’t make the Penguins roster this season but hopes to catch on in due time.
• Capitals prospect Anton Gustafsson is hoping his back problems are fixed this season.
