Frozen Assets: New News & Conference Odds

What’s New and Exciting In the World of Hockey Futures?

Well, to be honest, not very much. To update on the Mats Sundin props that were available at Betsson a few weeks ago, he has still not made a decision but the odds have been taken down. The latest rumour (being denied by Sundin’s agent) is that Mats has expressed his interest in playing for the New York Rangers.

On the betting exchange front, Matchbook is yet to put up their hockey market, and only $1,768 has been matched at Betfair.

No sportsbooks that I know of have posted division odds, and Stan James, BetDirect (are owned by same company, have the same odds), and Carib have posted Conference odds.

Usually there is some consensus between sportsbooks, but there are some major differences of opinion between the Stan James odds and the Carib odds. The “%” column is the implied percentage of each team to win the Conference. Whose odds are more accurate?

Good luck, and keep an eye on the Rangers – especially if they are able to sign Mr. Sundin.

Excellent article. I just started handicapping the East with the Atlantic. Going with that, I am fading PIT and in favor of PHI taking a big leap up the standings this year. I more detail on the site, but I’ve got team/pts: PHI/104, PIT/95, NYR/92, NJD/90, NYI/73. I do see a minimum of 3, and likely 4 playoff teams coming out of this division again though, so it will be no picnic for anybody.

Derek you probably like Philly at +900 to win the Conference. Do any other numbers jump out at you?

I see value in West around Chicago and Dallas. It’s Detroits’ cup to lose as most rightfully see it, but Cup hangovers take their toll on the best of them. (Can Osgood really play that well again? Does Hossa interfere with their dominant team concept?)
